Sometimes we like to think the rules don\u2019t apply to us. We really want to believe that they won\u2019t apply<\/strong> and that we can choose a different outcome.<\/strong><\/p>\n This is where an understanding of the Law of Cause and Effect<\/strong> can help us become that person who creates exactly what he\/she wants to create.<\/p>\n \u201cThe universal\u00a0law of cause and effect<\/strong>\u00a0states that for every\u00a0effect<\/strong>\u00a0there is a definite\u00a0cause<\/strong>, likewise for every cause<\/strong>, there is a definite\u00a0effect<\/strong>. Your thoughts, behaviors, and actions create specific\u00a0effects<\/strong>\u00a0that manifest and create your life as you know it.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n Years ago, I had the responsibility to teach a group of children every Sunday at church. I was outside doing yard work, trying to figure out how to teach them about choice and accountability and there before me was exactly what I needed for an object lesson. Sticks! (The yard was covered with branches that had broken off from the trees through the winter).<\/p>\n I brought them to the class and showed them the following message.<\/p>\n Our decisions are like picking up one end of the stick. The consequences or results of our actions are like the other end of the stick. It always comes along<\/strong>. The stick may be long or bent off to the side, but the other end always comes along.<\/p>\n All too often we want to think we can choose the end result. The consequence may be a long time in coming. It may take a detour, but sooner or later, by law, the consequence follows.<\/p>\n The freedom to choose does not come in deciding the end result. The choice comes in whether you pick up the stick or not. Once you make your decision, the consequence will always follow.<\/p>\n Before you say that word or think that thought, see where it will lead you. You have the choice at that moment, but once it\u2019s eaten, said, thought, or done, you cannot expect to choose your own consequence.<\/p>\n Before you pick up that one end of the stick, figuratively speaking, look down the road and see if the end result is what you really want. If not, you are free to choose to pick up a different stick.<\/p>\n What a wonderful law because it applies to every good as well as not so good thing! Don\u2019t think it applies to only the negative.
