The commemoration of a wedding becomes a week-long anniversary celebration. The honoring of Christmas Day becomes<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>a month of Christmas activities.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">You get the idea.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Yesterday we celebrated Father\u2019s Day in the United States.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Since I\u2019m a believer in extending a celebration as long as possible, I think <b>father\u2019s (and mothers) merit remembering every day.<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Gifts and cards are nice, but even <b>greater honor is through the way we live.<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Much of who I am was shaped by my parents.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">I remember my father daily when I:<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">*wield a hammer and nails, paintbrush, tire jack, or plunger.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">*teach my children to work<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">*take time to laugh and have fun with my family<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">*faithfully, quietly go about getting things done, without fanfare.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">*show my love for my spouse<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">*attend my children\u2019s school activities after a tiring day of work<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">*willingly serve when it\u2019s not convenient<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">My list can go on and on.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Did any of these activities remind you of your father?<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Would consciously recognizing his influence in your daily life be a way of honoring him?<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>I invite you to honor your father this day by observing his influence in all that you do and are.<\/b> <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Much love,<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.melaniebnewman.com\/staging\/9944\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/signature.png\" alt=\"Melanie Newman\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I believe it\u2019s possible to honor fathers every day.
