{"id":2211,"date":"2020-07-06T06:00:51","date_gmt":"2020-07-06T12:00:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.melaniebnewman.com\/staging\/9944\/?p=2211"},"modified":"2022-04-18T14:25:28","modified_gmt":"2022-04-18T20:25:28","slug":"a-simple-inspired-response-to-a-contentious-situation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.melaniebnewman.com\/staging\/9944\/a-simple-inspired-response-to-a-contentious-situation\/","title":{"rendered":"A Simple Inspired Response to a Contentious Situation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Not long ago I was comforted to receive<strong> a simple inspired response to a<\/strong><b>\u00a0contentious situation.<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">I had awakened feeling disconnected from my family and uncertain how the conversation of the night before would affect everyone that day.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The details are unimportant. But <strong>maybe you\u2019ve experienced something similar when opinions differ and emotions run high.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">As is my tendency, and maybe yours also, <strong>I wanted to fix the situation.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Yet I wasn\u2019t sure it was my place, and that my trying might make things worse.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">I prayed about the situation specifically that morning, and an impression came to mind.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">It was simple, clear and direct.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">At first I wasn\u2019t sure it was an answer because of its simplicity.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>The impression that came to me was \u201cBe kind.\u201d<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">I was surprised, but quickly realized the inspiration behind the response.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s1\"><b><i>I may not know the answers or how to fix a situation, but I could always be kind.<\/i><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">I\u2019ve since had more opportunities to experience<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">-uncertainty<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">-frustration<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">-disagreement<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">-anger<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">In every circumstance, remembering to be kind opens the way for<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">-solutions<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">-forgiveness<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">-healing<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">-peace<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Such a simple, unassuming truth.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Be kind.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">When you\u2019re in the right. When you\u2019re in the wrong. When there\u2019s nothing you can do.
