Are there truths you are unable to discover because you are blinded by your expectation?<\/b><\/p>\n

Are habitual patterns of thinking holding you back from truer insights?<\/p>\n

Does what you are expecting to see cloud your ability to recognize greater truth?<\/p>\n

My eyes were opened to this possibility in a humorous and unusual way.<\/b><\/p>\n

The Steering Wheel<\/strong><\/h6>\n

A few months ago, I needed to drive the car my daughter uses.<\/p>\n

As I got in, I was shocked at the condition of the steering wheel!<\/p>\n

In her defense, this car was old and had been used by older siblings for many years.<\/p>\n

The cleanliness inside of the car was not bad, but the steering wheel was grimy and disgusting.<\/p>\n

I was not happy as I was thinking of all the things I was going to say to my daughter.<\/p>\n

-Driving is a privilege, not a right.<\/p>\n

-She should show appreciation for that privilege by keeping the car clean.<\/p>\n

-She\u2019d be riding the bus to school (not cool for a high school senior), until she scrubbed the interior.<\/p>\n

The Surprise<\/strong><\/h6>\n

Later I was able to calmly approach her about the condition of the car.<\/p>\n

She was confused. She knew it needed to be dusted but didn\u2019t seem to think the car was dirty.<\/p>\n

When she returned from cleaning the interior of the car, she exclaimed,<\/p>\n

\u201cI had no idea it was that bad! I thought the black on the steering wheel was because it was worn away? That was gross!\u201d<\/p>\n

Even though she had been holding onto that gunky steering wheel, she had not recognized the grime.<\/p>\n

The car was old and she saw what she expected to see, a worn down steering wheel.<\/p>\n

What are we looking for?<\/strong><\/h6>\n

Are there truths we are unable to see because we are holding tight to what we expect to see?<\/b><\/p>\n

Such as<\/p>\n

    \n
  • people or relationships we believe will never change?<\/li>\n
  • Missed opportunities?<\/li>\n
  • Answers to dilemmas we are facing?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Is the steering wheel you are driving with really worn down or is it covered in mistaken ideas that need a deep cleaning?<\/p>\n

    Don\u2019t allow yourself to be blinded by expecting things to be the way they\u2019ve always been. It can keep us from discovering hidden truth.<\/b><\/p>\n
